A text came through my phone yesterday and changed the course of my day. It’s amazing how simple moments can have profound influence on the course of our lives.
A simple message from a sweet friend. She had been having a challenging week {honestly, haven’t a lot of us had some challenges this week!} and found a note I had written to her tucked away from three years ago! She read the note and was encouraged.
I have no idea what the note said. I honestly don’t even remember writing the note. But then again, three years ago I had really tiny humans to keep alive, so my memory from that season of life is fuzzy all around. The coolest thing though was my note to her didn’t just encourage her heart. Her text to me telling me about her encouragement absolutely made my day!
God reminded me when my heart is heavy and the world is hard, I can choose what I do next. I can let the heaviness weigh me down, or I can fight evil with good. I can choose joy over sorrow. I can plant seeds and let God do the work.
Will you do something with me?
Will you write a note of encouragement to another woman. It doesn’t matter who it is. She can be a close friend who you just want to acknowledge for her faithfulness in your life. Or maybe a family member who needs a note of joy. Perhaps there is a co-worker who has been less than pleasant in your world, and you could offer her a small card to just say “Have a nice day.”
Don’t make this complicated. I don’t have time for complicated in my life, and chances are you don’t either. Just look for a chance to be an encouragement to another woman’s life today, or this weekend. You never know how a small act of encouragement can change the course of someone’s life.
See if by being a blessing to someone else, you don’t find yourself blessed in the process.
