How to read the Bible well.

Girlfriends in the Word Podcast Episode 02

When we pick up a novel we know we are reading a story with dialogue and a ploy. When we pick up a poem we know there will be meter and rhyme. But when we pick up the Bible it can be hard to know how to read it and what we’re supposed to take away from it.

In this episode Natalia breaks down the 4 steps she takes a seminary student to reading God’s Word and how those steps can make things so much easier for you as a reader.

Step 1-Observe the text. Pay attention to the people, places, events, conflicts. Notice all that things.

Step 2-Investigate the text. Ask questions. Explore the culture. Learn about what is happening. Mark where something doesn’t make sense, chances are another passage in Scripture will answer your question.

Step 3-Interpret the text. What was the original author telling the original audience?

Step 4– What does this passage mean for my life today? How can I take the timeless truths about who God is and how He works and apply those to my life so I can be transformed?
