I know spring comes in waves all over the country as the weather shifts dramatically, but we are about to embark into what Florida considers spring, which is really just rainy season. I can tell because of the patches of wildflower type weeds that have begun to grow in my yard. The yard is in that pitiful state where we haven’t had enough water to grow the grass, but we have had enough where weeds are sprouting and wildflowers are growing.
As a sweet little girl was leaving our house the other day she stooped down to pick each and every little “flower” she could find. These flowers were simply weeds, but to her they were beautiful as she built her bouquet.
It made me think about how quickly we can be to dismiss the tiny treasures all around us. My eyes look for the big beautiful bouquets to adore, hers look for the tiny wildflower weeds to marvel at.
Perhaps my eyes are so insistent on seeing the big things God is doing I am failing to miss the moments of wildflower grace sprinkled all throughout my life?

So this week I’ve been looking for these wildflower moments in my day, these sprinklings of grace. Moments where my boys unload the dishwasher without grumbling. Or my husband reaches across the driver’s seat to hold my hand as he drives us to dinner. The way a child comes into our bedroom at night to chat. Or the smile that comes to my face when a friend’s name pops up on my phone for a chat.
All these moments are grace to our souls.
What wildflower moments are you overlooking in your life today? Take some time to look at things with fresh eyes and all the ways God is giving you grace today.
Father, thank You for the big and small ways You show yourself. Help me look for You in the little moments of grace as well as in the big ones. In the name of Jesus and by the power of the Spirit I pray, amen.
In His Grace,
